GenEraZions — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the GenEraZions mobile app ("GenEraZions", "we", "us"), operated by Optimistic Media, collects, uses, and shares information when you use the app. By using GenEraZions you agree to this policy. Your use of the app is also governed by our Terms and Conditions.

1. Who we are

GenEraZions is a cross-generation pop-culture trivia game operated by Optimistic Media. The app is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store under the identifier com.mattyg585.generazions.

2. Information we collect

Account information you provide

• Your first and last name (provided at sign-up; used for your account and not shown to other players)
• Email address (used for sign-up and sign-in)
• Username / in-game display name
• Selected avatar (a generated illustration — we do not collect or store photos of you)

Gameplay information generated as you play

• In-game virtual currency balances (coins) and points
• Match history and results
• Generation/era preference
• Friend connections you create in the app

Technical & advertising information

• A device advertising identifier, used by Google AdMob to serve ads
• Standard technical data needed to deliver ads and keep the service running

Purchase information (only if you buy GenEraZions Pro)

• If you purchase a GenEraZions Pro subscription, our payments partner RevenueCat and the app store (Google Play or the Apple App Store) process the transaction. We receive your subscription status, the product you purchased, and your purchase history. We do not receive your full payment-card details — those are handled by the app store.

We do not collect your precise location, we do not access your contacts, and we do not collect photos, files, or media from your device.

3. How we use information

• To create and manage your account and authenticate sign-in
• To run gameplay: matchmaking, hosted rooms, scoring, leaderboards, and virtual-coin balances
• To display your username and avatar to other players during online matches
• To process and manage GenEraZions Pro subscriptions
• To show advertising via Google AdMob
• To maintain security, prevent abuse, and operate and improve the service

We do not sell your personal information.

4. How information is shared

• Supabase (our backend and database provider) stores your account and gameplay data on our behalf. Data is hosted in the United States.
• Google AdMob receives your advertising identifier and ad-related signals to serve and measure ads. See Google's Privacy Policy and AdMob data disclosures.
• RevenueCat & the app stores: if you buy GenEraZions Pro, our payments partner RevenueCat and Google Play / the Apple App Store process and validate the purchase and share your subscription status with the app.
• Other players: your username, avatar, and in-match results are visible to other players in online and hosted-room matches.
• Legal: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users' safety.

5. Data retention & deletion

We retain account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). You may also request deletion by emailing privacy@generazions.app. Advertising identifiers are managed by your device; you can reset or limit them in your device settings.

6. Security

Data transmitted between the app and our backend is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

7. Children's privacy

GenEraZions is intended for users age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us at privacy@generazions.app and we will delete it.

8. Your rights

We comply with applicable data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), where they apply to you. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@generazions.app.

9. Advertising choices

GenEraZions shows ads through Google AdMob. You can opt out of personalized advertising and reset your advertising ID via your device settings (on Android: Settings → Google → Ads).

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, by notice in the app.
